Psychoanalyst

Meera Lee is a Lacanian psychoanalyst, licensed in New York State, with a private practice in Manhattan, New York City. She offers psychoanalysis within the Lacanian orientation, following the teachings of Jacques Lacan and Jacques-Alain Miller, grounded in the ethics of speech and the logic of the symptom. Her practice focuses on the structure of desire and the possibility of a singular mode of being beyond symptom management.

She works with individuals from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds, with particular interests in intellectual and creative impasses among academics, graduate students, and artists; questions of the subject in culture, including Asian American and immigrant experiences, achievement, and family expectations; and clinical concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, sexuality, and the impasses of love and work. Her practice is open to anyone seeking a deeper encounter with the unconscious structures of their life.

Meera Lee continues her analytic formation with senior members of and engages in clinical activities of the École de la Cause freudienne (ECF) in Paris and the New Lacanian School (NLS) in London, both schools of the World Association of Psychoanalysis (WAP), founded by Jacques-Alain Miller.

An author and translator in Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis, Lee has lectured throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, India, and South Korea on Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan. She has also taught seminars on Freud and Lacan at Lacan Toronto and the Asian American Center for Psychoanalysis (TAACP).

She completed her licensure-qualifying psychoanalytic training at the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis (NPAP) in New York City

Clinical Supervision

Meera Lee serves as a clinical supervisor for the Internship of PULSION Psychoanalytic Candidates at Rose Hill Psychological Services.

Seminar Teaching

Meera Lee is a co-coordinator of Lacan Toronto, an international psychoanalytic working group, where she leads the online Reading Group on Lacan’s Seminars. For the 2026–27 academic year, she is delivering a 10-session reading seminar on Lacan’s Seminar X: Anxiety, alongside readings of Freud and J.-A. Miller. She has also taught an eight-week online seminar, Introduction to Jacques Lacan: Reading Selected Texts from Écrits, at the Asian American Center for Psychoanalysis (TAACP).

Psychoanalytic Writing

Meera Lee is a faculty member in the Asian American Studies Program at Hunter College, CUNY. Her research and writing engage Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis and continental philosophy.

Lee is the editor of Lacan’s Cruelty: Perversion Beyond Philosophy, Culture and Clinic (Palgrave Lacan Series, 2022) and the Korean translator of Jacques Lacan: The Basics (Routledge, 2024) by Calum Neill: 『라캉을 읽기 위한 기본』 (Yeondoo, 2025). Her writing has appeared in numerous journals including The Psychoanalytic Review. Her book, What is a Father?-from Freud to Lacan: Prohibition, Permission and Desire is forthcoming from the Lacan Series at Palgrave (June 2027).
